I've tried to give a bit of a summary of the story and list the pokemon in the order they first appear in the game.

Chapter 1: Treasures Aplenty (The Park)

Tim Goodman, a young detective, begins his first investigation in a busy city park. When a necklace disappears, he and Detective Pikachu, his talking Pokémon partner, work together to track it down. The chapter focuses on collecting evidence and questioning Pokémon to uncover what happened.

Detective Pikachu (Electric)

In the game, Detective Pikachu is Tim’s constant partner. Unlike other Pikachu, this one talks, drinks coffee, and thinks like a detective, though only Tim can understand him. His role is to question Pokémon, interpret their testimony, and help players connect the dots.

Pikachu is an Electric type known for its lightning-fast moves and powerful Thunderbolt attack, but in this game his real strength is his brain.

Chapter 2: Litwick Cave

After helping solve the mystery of the stolen items and injured Aipom, Tim and Pikachu return to Harry Goodman’s apartment and discover a key. This key unlocks a cabinet containing a cave map. Following the lead, they enter the cave, where they find Emilia and Meiko.

In this chapter, Tim and Pikachu explore Litwick Cave to investigate Harry’s case, encountering obstacles like a berserk Glalie blocking the entrance. With teamwork from Glalie, Driftblim, and guidance from Meiko and Emilia, they solve puzzles, navigate the cave, and successfully escape while gathering clues for the ongoing investigation.

Glalie is a pure Ice type Pokémon that looks like a floating frozen head encased in hard armor. Its piercing glare and icy breath can be frightening, but it doesn’t attack without reason.

 

Driftloon – Found frozen by Glalie, it is thawed and later helps awaken out-of-reach Litwick. It acts as a cooperative ally to advance through the cave and locate Driftblim.

Driftblim – Found in a hidden cave and intended to transport everyone out. Initially unable to help due to weak wind, it eventually carries the group once conditions are improved.

Noibat – Guards cave entrances and provides information to identify which cave Driftblim is in. Its testimony is crucial for solving the puzzle of locating Driftblim’s exact location.

 

Chapter 3: PCL

After evacuating from the cave, Tim and Pikachu return home and discover a broken ampoule among Harry Goodman’s belongings. With the help of the Detective Agency, they determine it may have originated from the nearby PCL laboratory. Tim begins his part-time work at PCL under the alias Tim Ottman, navigating the facility, solving a Pokémon-based puzzle to access the courtyard, and helping Nina successfully complete a Shuckle experiment. During a TV shoot, a mysterious Pokémon causes Treveant to go berserk, prompting Tim to investigate by gathering reports, examining Pokémon behaviors, and analyzing library files, ultimately identifying Gengar as the prankster. The investigation leads to the discovery of a hidden underground lab and evidence pointing to Carlos as the culprit behind the stolen Treveant leftovers and unauthorized Pokémon experiments.

Floette – A Fairy-type Pokémon belonging to Rita, who welcomes Tim to PCL and helps introduce him to the facility’s environment. Its gentle presence adds a calm, supportive energy to the lobby scenes.

Garbodor – A Poison-type Pokémon working with Fridge to demonstrate his unusual garbage-disposal research. Garbodor shows how it processes discarded items while emitting a distinct odor.

Fennekin – A Fire-type Pokémon encountered in the courtyard whose observations help Tim piece together clues about the mysterious Pokémon. It also plays a small role in hinting at the “I was here first” voice.

Solosis – A Psychic-type Pokémon studied by Wallace for its ability to survive in any environment and communicate telepathically. Its research contributes to understanding Pokémon cells and laboratory experiments.

Duosion – Solosis’s evolved form, also used by Wallace in telepathy experiments. It demonstrates advanced psychic abilities and cooperative behavior in the lab.

Klefki – A key Pokémon guarding the storeroom in Building B, requiring Tim to gain its trust by providing Shuckle’s juice. Its cautious and clever nature emphasizes the importance of teamwork with Pokémon.

Along the way, they meet local residents, navigate the island’s secret paths, and encounter injured or disturbed Pokémon, all while trying to clear Dr. Waals’ name and uncover the true culprit behind the disruptions at the lake. The chapter balances detective work, puzzle-solving, and Pokémon interaction as Tim pieces together the mystery.

Fletchling – Amanda’s Fletchling delivers a letter from Mr. Baker to Pikachu, initiating the investigation into Cappucci Island.

Spritzee – Louise’s Spritzee works with her perfume and demonstrates the bond between Pokémon and humans on the island, highlighting local life.

Feebas – Injured in the lake area, Feebas reveals clues about the fog and nearby Pokémon disturbances, becoming a key informant in solving the mystery.

Stunfisk (statue) – Representing the electrical hazards along the path, Stunfisk’s statue warns Tim of environmental hazards and puzzle elements in the area.

Wingull (statue) – Part of the color-puzzle path to the lake, Wingull represents the white path phase of the moon puzzle.

Shellos – Present along the last stretch of the secret path, Shellos provides information about the lake’s conditions and the changes over time due to environmental factors.

Grotle – A resident of the lake area, Grotle gives insight into historical changes on the island and how human development has affected Pokémon habitats.

In Chapter Five, Tim and Pikachu visit the abandoned Fine Park to investigate a mysterious Pokémon incident from a year ago. They encounter Alakazam, who introduces them to the few Pokémon still at the park and together piece together the chaos that led Charizard and others to go berserk. Along the way, they uncover clues linking the outbreak to “R” and learn that Harry and his Pikachu were present during the original accident. By the end, Tim and Pikachu gather critical evidence, set the stage for future revelations, and return to the agency to review their findings.

Smeargle – Smeargle is found near a damaged painting, feeling depressed about the accident. After Tim helps restore the mural, it shares memories of the Pokémon affected and their personalities.

They investigate the disruption of a rehearsal caused by misdirected Yanma cameras, a broken violin, and a swapped fake violin, gathering alibis from the staff and piecing together that Max orchestrated the chaos. Along the way, Tim and Pikachu uncover clues about the Fine Park incident via Meiko’s video, spot Keith with a Skorupi, and ultimately set the stage for the next pursuit, combining detective work with puzzles, Pokémon interactions, and studio mysteries.

Herdier – The first Pokémon Tim sees at the GNN entrance alongside the security guard. Loyal and attentive, it helps maintain order around the studio.

Rattata – Rattata is a Normal-type Pokémon known for its curiosity and nimbleness. In the shipyard, it tries to sneak onto a ship to find food, giving Tim clues about the warehouse areas.

They investigate the ship, interact with passengers and Pokémon, and uncover a secret auction rather than a public show, discovering valuable items including the stolen mask and the R capsule. Along the way, they solve the mystery of the invisible Pokémon who helped steal the mask, and prepare for the auction, navigating puzzles, disguises, and bidding on key items. The chapter culminates in a confrontation with Keith, who possesses R and attempts to escape using Pokémon, setting up a dramatic showdown.

Krokoroc – These Pokémon act as guards for a restricted room on the second floor, preventing Tim and Pikachu from entering and adding a physical obstacle in the investigation. They are later affected by Keith’s R capsules, going berserk and creating chaos during the escape.

Frillish – Frillish serve as drink delivery Pokémon on the ship, and one in particular is crucial for delivering the special order that reveals the auction list. They also help demonstrate the structured operations aboard the S.S. Prime Treasure.

Cincinno – Two Cincinno assist passengers and are key to understanding the delivery of books and other items for the auction. Their testimony helps Tim uncover the “proper” method for ordering from Frillish.

Kecleon’s presence highlights the clever, elusive nature of certain Pokémon and the challenges they pose when investigating crimes.


Chandelure – Chandelure is attracted to shiny objects in the auction hall and must be distracted from the necklace display. Its presence adds an additional challenge during the auction sequence.

 

Chapter 9: Pokemon Carnival

In Chapter Nine: Pokémon Carnival, Tim and Pikachu race to stop R from being released during the city parade. With help from Emilia, Brad, and Manectric, they track the gas, liquid, and capsule forms of R, confront the suspicious man with the yellow hat, and disarm the R-dispensing device in the Clock Tower. The chapter ends with Mewtwo appearing to collect the remaining R, preventing disaster at the parade.
