Welcome to our Greek mythology weapons coloring pages!

In Greek myth, a weapon was rarely just a weapon. Zeus's thunderbolt, Poseidon's trident, and Apollo's silver bow each showed the power of the god who carried it. The best ones weren't made by ordinary blacksmiths either. The cyclopes forged the thunderbolt and the trident, and the god Hephaestus made the shield Achilles carried at Troy. You'll find those here, along with famous hero gear like the club of Heracles.

The god Hephaestus forged this shield after Achilles' first armor was lost in battle. Its surface showed the whole world: earth, sea, sky, the sun and moon, a city at peace, and a city at war. It's one of the most famous objects in Homer's Iliad.

Apollo was the god of music, the sun, and archery, and Homer calls him the lord of the silver bow. His arrows could bring sudden sickness, but he was also a god of healing. His twin sister Artemis was an archer too.

The aegis was a magical goatskin cloak or shield fringed with snakes, often shown with Medusa's head in the middle. Shaking it could terrify an entire army. Zeus had an aegis too, but Athena is the one usually shown wearing it.

Athena was the goddess of wisdom and battle strategy, so she used her brain first and her spear second. In the myth, she leaped out of Zeus's head already wearing her helmet and armor. Her owl is often shown nearby.

In some stories, Eros had two kinds of arrows. Gold-tipped ones made people fall in love, and lead-tipped ones made them run away from it. The Romans called him Cupid, which is why you see arrows on Valentine's Day cards.

Heracles' club was said to be cut from a wild olive tree. It didn't help against the Nemean lion, whose skin was too tough for any weapon, so Heracles wrestled it instead. He then wore the lion's skin as a cloak.

Heracles dipped his arrows in the venom of the Hydra, the many-headed water monster he defeated as one of his labors. Even a small scratch was deadly. Later, a prophecy said the Greeks could only win the Trojan War with these arrows.

The harpe was a curved blade, something between a sword and a sickle. Hermes lent his to the hero Perseus so he could cut off Medusa's head. It's a good thing Perseus didn't have to look at her while he did it.

Kronos, king of the Titans, used this sickle to overthrow his father, Uranus, and take the throne. Years later, his own son Zeus did the same to him. The Romans linked Kronos with Saturn, and the scythe-carrying "Father Time" comes from this god.

Odysseus was given this bow as a gift and left it at home when he sailed for Troy. When he returned twenty years later, none of the men crowding his house could string it. He could, and he used it to take his home back.

Athena gave Perseus a shield polished so brightly it worked like a mirror. Looking at Medusa directly would turn him to stone, so he watched her reflection and fought her that way. It's a good example of clever thinking beating brute strength.
