Ibong Adarna Coloring Pages
Three princes are sent to find the Ibong Adarna after their father, the king, falls gravely ill, because only its song is said to cure any sickness. The catch: that same song also puts anyone nearby straight to sleep, and the bird has a habit of leaving careless listeners behind as statues.
Every time the Ibong Adarna sings, its feathers shift into a new color, one impossible shade sliding into the next. It's the clearest sign in the whole story that something enchanted is happening nearby, which is exactly why the two older princes mistake all that beauty for safety.
The Ibong Adarna is famous for one strange habit: even fast asleep, its eyes stay wide open. Only the youngest of the three princes manages to notice it actually nodding off without falling asleep himself, which turns out to be the only reason he survives long enough to catch it.
Centuries later, Ibong Adarna is still taught in Filipino classrooms as one of the country's best-loved epics. It's remembered less for the bird's healing song than for its youngest prince, patient and sharp enough to succeed where his two older brothers turned to stone.
