Totodile’s New Splash
Totodile had never left his river before. The water there had been wild and rushing, filled with reeds to hide in and fish to chase. But now, with a nervous flick of his tail, he waddled up the stone steps that led to Lumiose City’s great park lake. It was time to move.
The lake looked enormous, but different. It was too smooth, almost too quiet. Instead of trees leaning over the banks, tall buildings gleamed on every side. Instead of rustling grass, there was laughter and chatter from families strolling nearby. Totodile’s stomach fluttered. What if he didn’t belong here?
He slid into the water with a splash. It felt strange at first... calm where he was used to currents, wide where he was used to narrow bends. He swam slowly, glancing around. That was when a Magikarp popped up beside him, splashing him right in the face. Totodile blinked, then giggled. A pair of Ducklett waddled into the shallows, and from the deeper water came the friendly song of a Dratini.
Totodile felt his nerves melt into excitement. Maybe this lake had its own kind of life waiting for him. He thrashed his tail, spinning in circles and sending ripples racing across the water. Children cheered from the banks, clapping at his antics.
By the time the city lamps flickered on, Totodile knew that this new home wasn’t the river he had left, but it was full of surprises, friends, and chances to splash. Moving had been scary, but it had led him somewhere wonderful.
