Teachers play an important role in children’s lives, helping them learn new skills, explore ideas, and discover the joy of learning. Apples, chalkboards, and classrooms have long been symbols of appreciation for teachers, showing how much they mean to students and their communities.
The custom of giving an apple to a teacher dates back centuries, when families sometimes offered fruit as a simple gift or even as part of a teacher’s pay. Over time, the apple became a cheerful way to say “thank you,” especially during autumn harvest season which coincides with back to school season in the northern hemisphere!
World Teachers’ Day (October 5th): Celebrated around the globe, this day honors teachers for their hard work, dedication, and the inspiration they bring to their students every day. It reminds us how important education is and how teachers guide young minds toward a bright future.
Teacher Appreciation Week (early May, U.S.): A week dedicated to saying “thank you” to teachers. Schools and families show their gratitude with cards, small gifts, and special activities that highlight the difference teachers make in their communities.
