Floral Animal Art Coloring Pages
Welcome to my Floral Animal Art coloring pages section.
Floral animal art turns an animal or creature into a garden. The outline stays the same, but the inside is filled with flowers, leaves and patterns. Sometimes the flowers suit the animal's home, so a desert armadillo blooms with cactus flowers. Other times they're just there because a dragon covered in peonies is a pretty great thing to look at.

Armadillo in a Cactus Garden
An armadillo makes a perfect canvas because its shell already comes in bands, like a row of little picture frames. Here each band holds a different desert plant, from round barrel cacti with tiny flowers to spiky agaves and rosettes of succulents. Even the ears, legs and long tail are covered in blooms.
Dragon in Bloom
Most dragons in stories guard a pile of gold, but this one wears its treasure. A big peony sits right in the middle of its chest, and in China the peony is called the king of flowers, so it seems like a fair choice for a dragon. Blossoms run down its wings and all the way to the tip of its tail...
French Bulldog
French bulldogs actually started out in England. When lace makers moved from Nottingham to France in the 1800s, they brought their little bulldogs along, and the French fell in love with the dogs' big bat ears. Those ears turned out to be just the right size for a flower each.
Peacock
A peacock's big fan isn't really its tail. Those long feathers grow from its back and are called the train, and the real tail is a row of short, stiff feathers underneath that holds the train up. In this one the train has turned into a giant bouquet, with a few eyespots still peeking out between the flowers.
Phoenix
Stories say only one phoenix lives at a time. When it grows old it bursts into flame, and a brand new bird rises from the ashes. This one trades its fire for leaves and blossoms, which suits a bird that's all about starting fresh, a bit like a garden coming back every spring...
Turkey
Wild turkeys can fly! They sleep up in the trees at night, and when something startles them they can burst into the air at up to 88 km/h (55 mph). The autumn turkey fans out its tail feathers like a harvest wreath of leaves, acorns and flowers.
Unicorn
For hundreds of years, people in Europe believed unicorns were real. Narwhal tusks were sold as unicorn horns, and they cost more than their weight in gold. This unicorn keeps it simple, with a mane and tail so full of blossoms it looks like it wandered through a flower garden.

Floral Folk Art
Folk art flowers are the kind you'd find painted on wooden chests and stitched onto tea towels in old farmhouses. They're nearly always symmetrical, with one big bloom in the middle and curling stems on each side...Floral Folk Art coloring pages
Doodle Animals (Zentangle Style)
Zentangle is a way of drawing where you fill a shape with small repeating patterns, one little section at a time. The doodle animals work the same way as the floral ones, just with stripes, swirls and dots in place of flowers.
