Dancing Coloring Pages
Almost every culture in the world has its own way of dancing. Some dances tell a story, like a ballerina playing a swan, and some are just a way to celebrate with your whole village. These are a few of my favourites, from the stamping heels of Spain to the jingling bells of an English spring festival.
Ballet
Ballet dancers practise for years before they can dance on the very tips of their toes. They wear special pointe shoes with a hard, flat box in the toe to hold them up...
Ballroom Dancing
Every ballroom dance comes from somewhere, and one of them is even named after a city. From the waltz to the jive, find out where each dance began...
Flamenco and Spanish Dancing
Flamenco comes from Andalusia in southern Spain. Dancers stamp out fast rhythms with their heels while guitars play and everyone claps along. Many Spanish dances also use castanets, two little wooden shells tied together with string that the dancer clicks in each hand like a tiny drum.
Morris Dancing
Morris dancing is an old English folk dance. The dancers tie little bells to their legs and wave handkerchiefs or knock wooden sticks together as they hop and skip, so you can hear them coming long before you see them! In England you'll often spot Morris dancers on May Day and St George's Day.
