Sir Lancelot Coloring Pages
Sir Lancelot is the best fighter at the Knights of the Round Table, and also the reason Camelot falls apart. Both are true, which is what makes him such a good character. He's brave, loyal and kind, and he has one big problem: he's in love with the king's wife.

Meet Sir Lancelot
Lancelot wasn't in the very first Arthur stories. French storytellers added him hundreds of years later, and he was so popular that he ended up as the star knight of the whole Round Table. That's probably why artists draw him so many ways, from dashing hero to quiet knight in a helmet.
Lancelot (Prince of Benwick)
Although Lancelot is famous as the greatest knight of the Round Table, he was born a prince. His father was a king in France, and when enemies took the kingdom, the Lady of the Lake carried baby Lancelot away to grow up in her home beneath the water. That's why he's often called Lancelot du Lac, which means "of the Lake"...
Raised by the Lady of the Lake
Lancelot grew up under the water. In many versions of the story his father dies while he's still a baby, and the Lady of the Lake takes him home to her hidden kingdom. She raises him, teaches him, and sends him to Arthur's court once he's old enough to be a knight. That's why he's often called Lancelot of the Lake.
Viviane is the name most often given to this motherly Lady, but every storyteller has their own version, and a few say he was raised by a fairy instead.

Lancelot in Action
Lancelot is the knight everyone wants on their side in a tournament. In some stories he even enters in disguise, so nobody knows the mystery knight they just lost to is Sir Lancelot.
His bravest moment comes when Queen Guinevere is carried off by a rival knight. The only way to reach her is a bridge made from a single sword blade, stretched across a deep gap, and Lancelot crosses it anyway.
Lancelot and Guinevere
Lancelot swears to serve King Arthur, and he really means it. Then he falls in love with Arthur's wife, Queen Guinevere, and spends years trying to do the right thing in two directions at once. When the secret finally comes out, the knights take sides and the friendship that held Camelot together comes apart.
He does go looking for the Holy Grail with the other knights and gets closer than most, but in some versions it's his own son who finds it in the end...
