My husband and I climbed a hill in Wales to watch the jets. It was unbelievably cool to see them whizz by at eye level. There were about half a dozen of us up on the hill that day and it was such a sense of wonder and camraderie (though the elderly Welsh regulars were tough for our Canadian ears to understand lol) One of the jets even tipped its wing to wave hello to us!
Wales has a concept which is known in Welsh law as the "right of access" which allows one to walk about pretty much everywhere as long as you're not making a mess of things, so it's easy to find a spot along the Mach Loop to view the goings on. There's a website that posts the schedule of training so you can rest assured you'll get to view some jets on the day you go out.
