About Koi Fish

Koi fish are like living jewels that swim gracefully in ponds and streams, with their beautiful, bright colors and elegant, flowing fins. Imagine fish that look like they've been painted with the most vibrant colors from an artist's palette—shimmering golds, deep reds, bright oranges, snowy whites, and even velvety blacks. Koi fish come from Japan, where people have loved and taken care of them for hundreds of years, believing that these fish bring good luck and happiness.

In stories and myths, koi fish are symbols of strength and courage because of their ability to swim upstream and even leap through waterfalls, almost like they're on an adventurous journey. There's a famous legend that says if a koi fish swims all the way up a waterfall, it turns into a powerful dragon! When you draw or color koi fish, you can let your imagination run wild with their patterns and colors, making each one unique. Think about how they move in the water, their fins like delicate fans, and how each color you choose can tell a part of their magical story.

Things I Have a Love/Hate Relationship With:

Technology: I love how it connects us and makes things easier, but why does it have to change so quickly?
Trivia Nights: I'm your go-to person for fun facts, yet somehow, I always end up in second or third place. Frustrating!
Gardening: I like to think I have a green thumb, but it has a few brown speckles. My plants and I are working on it.
Animals: I adore my pets and they bring me so much joy, but oh, the chores! Why can’t they clean up after themselves?

I earned my degree back in the early '90s, and as a lifelong learner, I continue to delve into the things I love. This includes technology (though I struggle to keep up!), art, early childhood education, history, and mythology as it relates to sociology.

I know that while the coloring pages are largely for kids, many of you visiting the site are educators and caregivers. I’ve tried to share some interesting trivia tidbits and fun facts to make your visit enjoyable too. Happy coloring!
